So what a fucking awesome movie!!!!!! better the Dark Knight IMO!
Didnt go too crazy with the effects, Hotel scene (no gravity scene) was realistic.
Cant wait to see it again!
My theory as its been left open for a second, that the whole movie was inside one big dream.
I came to this conclusion because we never saw the spinner topple over. BASTARDS! ha ha
What are your thoughts????
Ah Victor, what is it that it is you are talking about? |

I think TDK is better, but im a sucker for comic movies.
Reading that story (below) I think I may agree that the whole thing was part of Cobb's mind all along.
Will watch it again and try to pick up on a number of things

for me...inception! as much as it seems matrixy its still an original. I love TDK but I love it because its a remake done properly. I much prefer an original movie rather than a good remake. Thats why I love the matrix so much. It in all sense of the word 'revolutionized' film making forever!
the scene where she jumps off the building 'in reality' which we may now believe as Cobbs dream who is the architecht?
They say in the movie if you go into limbo there is nothing there you just grow to an old man....
If thats the case i don't believe that Cobb was ever in limbo at all because how can he construct anything if there is nothing in there to construct. They basically said in the movie, if you end up in limbo you are a vegetable!
-----------
His wifes situation where she thinks that the real world isn't actually the real world they are in a dream. Cobb thinks the opposite. He thinks he is in the real word when he (not confirmed) is actually in a dream...

I just spent a while reading the whole plot from start to finish. my eyes are sore, but good to go through it all in detail.
Yeah maybe the whole theory about wether Cobb was in Limbo the whole time is wrong. I just love the twist at the end with the spinning top.

Saw this last night. Good movie.
How did they 'kick' out of the last level, Cobb and the old japanese dude?
Why weren't all the levels in weightlessness? The van was in weightlessness, which caused the hotel/elevator to be in weightlessness, if the hotel/elevator was in weightlessness, then shouldn't the next level down be in weightlessness and so on???? |

I started typing to explain why the others didn't have the 'weightlessness' issues. Then i realised you are right.
the lobby (Arthurs Dream) is weightless because of the car tipping over in the dream below (Yusufs Dream).
that said because Eames is the "Dreamer" in the snow level, that level should have weightlessness because he is suspended in weightlessness on the level down in Arthurs dream.
little confusing but I get your point Ferni. Out of all the reading I have done of this movie, this is the first time this issue has been raised.

I think the effects only occur depending on whos dream your in....
Example: Real world (fischers dream)
Van (Yusufs dream) = weightlessnes
Lobby (Arthurs dream) = effects from above carry over
Snow (the imposters dream) = no effects from the lobby dream occur.....
Why? because buy the time they get into the snow dream weightlessness hasnt occured yet. As time slows down in each level it takes longer for the effects to carry into the next level. so maybe it is going to happen but only when time catches up....

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
great point. OK. The time difference on each level comes into effect. That said (from memory) it could be like half a year before the weightlessness would occur. (Due to the increased dosage from the chemist)

My Second Theory:
Lets say Cobb is in fact the one who is in the dreamworld, why doesnt his father (Michael Caine) convince him otherwise?
I have a thought that in the 'actual realworld' there has been an accident where in which his wife and kids are killed,
therefore he tries to go into a dream and stay there to build a life with his projected wife and kids. something (we may find out in a sequel or even prequel)
goes wrong and his perfect dream has become a nightmare (aka limbo) that cobb cant escape because he has caused his own 'inception'
where he now thinks that the dream he created is the real world......
the whole fiasco with creating an inception within fischer jr. is just his subconscious trying to keep his mind active & alert because its just a dream.......

still don't get why weightlessness didn't carry through, the time effect your talking about just extends how long you have in the below levels.... but things happening in the above levels aren't delayed.... its just compressed time... |

i wanna see it again to confirm it. seeing it once isnt enough to grasp the whole story.
I think its got something to do with with the dreamer and timing.
you have to remember that 1 hour in real time is 10 years in the 4th level. so by the tine the echo of the weightlessness reaches even level 2 they could have done what they need to do many times over

what is this 'echo' your talking about?
Everything was in real time, hence why they kept cutting between shots of different levels... so if the van was in mid air falling off the bridge for say 3 seconds, then in the hotel that was like 3 minutes while he was floating around sorting out the elevator, and then 3 minutes there was like 3 hours in the snow (all still at the same time) etc... |
